Swannanoa residents who stopped by the Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS) booth at the Mill Around the Village Festival on October 12 had the chance to respond to two questions that FANS posed on our “Question Board” (pictured to the left).
What’s your favorite place in Swannanoa?: The mountains; the Welcome Table (at Swannanoa United Methodist Church); Eye Scream Parlour; ArtSpace Charter School; First Baptist Church of Swannanoa; Okie Dokie’s Smokehouse; the Swannanoa Ingles; Owen Park; the Swannanoa Community Garden; the Swannanoa River; Warren Wilson College hiking trails; Redmon’s Automotive; The Village Trading Company; Native Kitchen; and the Swannanoa Library and park/playground.
What would you like to see on the old Beacon Mill Site?: Town square and park, with housing and shops (mentioned multiple times); artist studios and art shops; walking paths/sidewalks; housing, businesses and jobs; green space, restaurants and retail shops; park and community event center; amusement park; dirt bike track for kids; pond; restaurants; playground; small replica of the Beacon Mill (with several dittos); and affordable housing.
