Have you always dreamed of owning your own home, but just couldn’t make the finances work? Mountain Housing Opportunities (MHO) may have the answer. MHO is starting construction soon on a Self-Help Home Ownership community in Swannanoa that allows families to work together to build their homes, using their “sweat equity” as their downpayment. This means you put zero money down at closing and get instant equity in your home. The mortgage interest rate is no more than 3.75%, and can be as low as 1% for families who qualify for subsidies.
The Self-Help Home Ownership community will be located off Dennis Street, just past the Habitat for Humanity neighborhood. MHO is looking for one additional family for the build that will begin this fall. Five or six families are needed for the build beginning in the fall of 2015.
