Since farmer’s markets are considered essential services, they can continue to operate during the coronavirus outbreak. The Black Mountain Tailgate Market is working hard to implement safety measures and create a market layout that will honor physical distancing requirements. They’re aiming for their traditional first Saturday in May opening (May 2), but check their Facebook page for updates.
The Black Mountain Tailgate Market features organic and sustainably grown produce, plants, cut flowers, herbs, locally raised meats, seafood, breads, pastries, cheeses, eggs and local arts and handcrafted items. The market may look a little different this year, but organizers are making every effort to bring customers the fresh, locally-grown food they’ve come to expect. The market takes place at 130 Montreat Road in Black Mountain, every Saturday from 9 a.m. – noon.
