Swannanoa Restaurants Continue to Serve Up Good Eats During Pandemic

Restaurants are among the businesses hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, and Swannanoa has not been immune from the economic impact. Native Kitchen in Beacon Village closed permanently, and many other local favorites have been forced to adapt, with expanded carryout and curbside service, outdoor dining, limited indoor seating, adjusted hours, and reduced staff.
Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS) encourages Swannanoa neighbors to support our local restaurants as you’re able, so that we can continue to enjoy the great food and sense of community they provide long after COVID is a distant memory. Last but not least, another local favorite, The Breakfast Shoppe, is relocating from the corner of US 70 and Patton Cove Road to 2077 US 70 (the former location of El Lemon Mexican Restaurant). The Breakfast Shoppe reopening has been delayed by COVID, but owner Nancy Allen hopes to be serving delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners there soon.

New Swannanoa Business Directory Is In the Works

Swannanoa Biz DirectoryThe Swannanoa Business Association (SBA) is working on compiling a revised 2015 edition of the Swannanoa Business and Community Directory. All Swannanoa businesses and organizations will be listed for free, but SBA member listings will be boxed and designated with the letter “M” for greater visibility. Annual SBA memberships are $25 for sole owners and individuals, $50 for businesses with 2 – 14 employees, and $100 for businesses with 15 or more employees. Over 1,000 copies of the directory will be distributed through local businesses, the Swannanoa Library, etc. Businesses can get additional exposure by purchasing a directory advertisement; ad prices start as low as $45.

New Swannanoa Business Directory Is Now Available

The Swannanoa Business Association recently published a new, updated edition of the Swannanoa Business Directory. The directory is free and includes listings of hundreds of Swannanoa businesses and organizations, arranged alphabetically and in categories so they’re easy to find. Make sure you check the directory before taking your business outside of our community; you’ll be amazed at how many of your needs can be met by businesses and service providers located right here in Swannanoa.

In addition to listings, the directory contains information about local services and resources, contact information for government agencies and officials, and helpful background about the Swannanoa community and its history. Directories are available at member businesses throughout Swannanoa; pick up your copy the next time you’re out and about.

The Swannanoa Business Association is a group of business people and individuals in Swannanoa who come together to network, grow business and business opportunities in Swannanoa, and weave a sense of community. Memberships are $25 for sole owners, individuals and nonprofits; $50 for businesses with 2 – 15 employees; and $100 for businesses with 15+ employees.
