If you have a head for numbers and a heart for community service, you might be the perfect fit for the volunteer Treasurer position that the Swannanoa Community Council (SCC) is looking to fill. And if numbers aren’t your thing, but you’d like to find a rewarding way to give back to the community, the Council has several other volunteer opportunities that might fit the bill.
The SCC is a nonprofit organization that owns the Swannanoa library building (which is currently leased to the County), as well as Grovemont Park and playground. In addition to overseeing these properties, the SCC‘s all-volunteer board works to build community in Swannanoa by sponsoring (along with FANS and the Friends of the Library) a variety of free events in Grovemont Park, including Groovin’ on Grovemont, Cinema on the Square, and the new Swannanoa Winterfest.
If you have a little time to spare and would like to learn more about volunteering with the SCC, please contact current board Chair, Allen Dye, at 828-275-1183 or adye@thecrestcenter.com
