The Asheville Citizen-Times recently ran a story by local historian Rob Neufeld entitled “Visiting Our Past: Storytelling Motherlode in Swannanoa.” The article chronicles the fascinating lives and stories of some of Swannanoa’s most colorful past residents, including jack-of-all-trades William Cornelius Burnette who, among other things, “could make a fence post that looked like a giant sharpened pencil.” The article appeared in the paper’s September 27 edition.
