. . . that our very own Owen Park is a part of the official North Carolina Birding Trail? Over 40 species of our fine feathered friends have been spotted at Owen Park, including a migrating loon that rested there this spring before continuing its journey north.
Buncombe County recently highlighted Owen Park in its July e-magazine, calling it “one of the prettiest parks in Buncombe County.” And indeed it is. With two beautiful ponds stocked with fish, access to the Swannanoa River, newly re-surfaced walking trails, baseball diamonds and basketball courts, picnic pavilions, a playground, and a fishing pier — the park offers something for everyone.
