Eleven grants totaling $74,000 were recently awarded to nonprofits by the Black Mountain-Swannanoa Valley Endowment Fund (BMSVEF). The Endowment Fund has made 80 grants totaling $695,895 since the Fund’s inception in 1999. All of the grant money assists nonprofit organizations serving the Swannanoa Valley.
Spring grant recipients include Owen Middle School, Bounty & Soul, Marjorie McCune Memorial Center, and Junior Achievement. “From supplying food to bridge weekends and summer months for Swannanoa Valley children experiencing food insecurity, to purchasing medical supplies for the uninsured, the elderly and veterans, to providing musical instruments for the Owen Middle School orchestra, the Black Mountain-Swannanoa Valley Endowment Fund is hard at work addressing the diverse needs of Swannanoa Valley residents,” said BMSVEF Advisory Board Chair Roger Hibbard.
The BMSVEF, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, seeks to inspire philanthropy and strengthen charitable organizations in the Swannanoa Valley. The Endowment Fund grows through tax-deductible contributions.
