The Swannanoa community’s first-ever outdoor movie series is coming to Grovemont Square (adjacent to the Swannanoa Library, 101 West Charleston Ave.) starting this Friday, April 21, with a screening of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The series will continue on Friday, May 19, with the classic family favorite, E.T., The Extraterrestrial.
Movies will begin at sundown; bring a chair or blanket and arrive early (around 7 p.m.) to enjoy the pre-movie festivities, including games, face painting, and hula hooping. This Friday, there will also be a special Earth Day celebration in conjunction with the screening of The Lorax, which is based on the environmentally-themed children’s book by Dr. Seuss. Pizza, popcorn, and baked goods will be available for purchase before and during the show.
The “Cinema on the Square” movie series is co-sponsored by Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS), the Friends of the Swannanoa Library, and the Swannanoa Community Council.
