The Valley History Explorer Hiking Series offers hikers the opportunity to revisit the past of the unique communities that make up the Swannanoa Valley. The series of 8 moderate hikes is sponsored by the Swannanoa Valley Museum.
A free informational meeting for interested hikers will take place at the Swannanoa Valley Museum, 223 West State Street in Black Mountain, at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27. The meeting will provide an introduction to the program offerings, details about the individual hikes, advice for hikers, and information about scholarships.
Participants can register for a single hike or the entire series. The first hike of the season will take place on Saturday, March 10, at 9:30 a.m., with an exploration of Swannnoa’s Bee Tree community. Cost for each hike is $25 for museum members, and $35 for non-members.
