Spring is here, which means our Swannanoa Valley bears are waking up and coming out with their cubs to search for food. Human and bear encounters are a fact of life here in the WNC mountains. Come to this free BearWise program at the Swannanoa Library, 101 West Charleston Avenue, and learn how to live peaceably and safely with our ursine neighbors. The program is presented by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, and takes place on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:00 p.m.
BearWise shares ways to prevent conflicts, provides resources to resolve problems, and encourages community initiatives to keep bears wild. The program was developed by bear experts from the Southeastern states and is supported by the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.
