The Swannanoa Valley Museum is hosting an Appalachian Spring Tea in honor of Swannanoa resident Harriet Styles, who passed away in 2014. Styles was involved in many Swannanoa Valley organizations, and contributed endless volunteer hours to her beloved community throughout her long life. She was one of the founding members of the Swannanoa Valley Museum, and worked tirelessly to preserve the heritage and history of the Valley.
On Saturday, May 12, history lovers, nature enthusiasts, and those who appreciate the tasty foods offered at a formal tea, will gather at Swannanoa’s historic Whitemont Lodge to honor Styles and celebrate the arrival of spring. The pre-Mother’s Day “Appalachian Spring Tea With Harriet” will be offered in two seatings, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 5 – 7 p.m. It will include savory, scone, and sweet courses, music, and a private tour of Whitemont Lodge and the surrounding gardens. Advance ticket purchase is required.
Cost is $35 for members and $45 for non-members. For more info, or to purchase tickets, visit the museum’s website or call 828-669-9566.
