The Black Mountain Center for the Arts proudly presents The History (and Mystery) of the Universe, written by D.W. Jacobs from the life, work and writings of R. Buckminster Fuller, and performed by David Novak. The show had its world premiere in San Diego almost 20 years ago, and has since been performed more than 1,000 times at venues around the country. With toothpicks, chalkboard, an overhead projector and other simple materials, “Bucky” lectures once again in his famous meandering discourse about Life, Love, Nature and the possibility of Universe.
R. Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller was an epic thinker, and his insights continue to inform and resonate with us today. He is best known as the designer of the geodesic dome, which he developed while on the faculty of Black Mountain College, 1948-49. But his incredible ingenuity extended into the realm of words and discourse as well. Bucky’s challenging and insightful words will come to life in R. Buckminster Fuller: The History (and Mystery) of the Universe.
Performances will take place at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, 225 West State Street, on September 6, 7 and 8, at 7:30 p.m. Seating is first-come first-served; doors open at 7:00 p.m. To purchase tickets ($20 each; $10 for students with ID), call 828-669-0930 or visit www.blackmountainarts.org/events.
