Government At Work In Swannanoa

Two recent meetings held in Swannanoa gave residents the chance to bring their issues and concerns directly to their elected representatives.

On July 16, Buncombe County Commissioners Ellen Frost and Mike Fryar hosted a community meeting at the Bee Tree Fire Station for residents of District 2, which includes much of Swannanoa. All of the Buncombe County Commissioners, including Chairman David Gantt, were in attendance at the meeting. Topics raised by residents included zoning, pedestrian safety, and the proposed re-development of the Beacon Mill site. To read a Mountain XPress article about the meeting, please click here.

About 270 people packed the auditorium at ArtSpace Charter School on August 7 to participate in a town hall meeting hosted by Representative Patrick McHenry (R-NC) of the 10th Congressional District. McHenry fielded questions and comments from constituents about his positions on a wide variety of issues, including health care, immigration reform and affordable housing.
