Owen High School is racking up the honors and awards. Congratulations go out to Owen High teacher Dawn Rookey, who was recently named Buncombe County Teacher of the Year. Rookey – who was chosen from among six finalists for this prestigious award – has been teaching at Owen for 10 years.
Owen High principal Meg Turner is also in the winner’s circle, having recently been selected as Buncombe County’s Principal of the Year for 2012-2013. Turner has worked at several Buncombe County schools over the past 10 years, including a stint as assistant principal at Owen High School from 2001 – 2003. She returned to Owen High as principal in 2011.
We’re fortunate to have such dedicated teachers and administrators in the Owen district. Go Warhorses!
