Several popular community events will not take place this summer and fall, due to concerns with hosting large gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic. The Sourwood Festival, a Swannanoa Valley tradition that normally happens each August, will take a hiatus this year with plans to return in 2021.
The fall Community Yard Sale, sponsored by Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS) and usually held in the Swannanoa Ingles parking lot in early October, will also not take place this year. FANS looks forward to returning with a huge spring yard sale in 2021 that will hopefully satisfy all the pent-up demand! Swannanoa’s annual Groovin’ on Grovemont outdoor concert series is also on hiatus until next year.
The decision to cancel these events was a difficult one for all of the sponsoring organizations, but the safety of our community remains the top priority. Let’s all hang in there and stay safe until we can be together again!
