Do your eyes start to cross when it’s time to work on your tax forms? Help is on the way! AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will once again be on hand to provide tax preparation and filing services at the Black Mountain Library, 105 N. Dougherty Street. The free service, which begins on February 11 and continues on Thursdays thereafter, is by appointment only due to the pandemic.
To request an appointment, click here or send an email to email@example.com.If you don’t have internet access, you can call 828-419-0030 and leave a message with your name and telephone number. A volunteer will call you back between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the following Thursday to arrange your appointment. Please be aware that library staff cannot make appointments. Visit the library to pick up a Tax-Aide handout that provides more information, including forms that need to be completed before coming to your appointment.
AARP Tax-Aide is available to everyone, with a special focus on those who are over 50 and can’t afford paid tax preparation. Volunteers are trained and IRS-certified every year, and will work to get you every credit and deduction you’ve earned. Federal and state returns are filed electronically for faster refunds.
