Give the Gift of Life
With many blood drives cancelled due to school and workplace closures, the blood supply in our area, and throughout the country, is dangerously low. Swannanoa Valley residents (and others!) can help meet the critical need for blood by participating in a community blood drive on Wednesday, June 24, from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
The blood drive is sponsored by Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS), in cooperation with the Western North Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross. We’re grateful to Valley Hope Church (115 Rockdale Ave., Swannanoa) for allowing their space to be used for this important community service.
The blood drive is by appointment only. To schedule a time for your donation, please click here or contact Matt at 828-242-6345; or Email Matt. You can also visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter Sponsor Code: Valleyhope. Blood donation is a safe process. Social distancing and safety protocols will be followed, including temperature screenings, use of masks and hand sanitizer, and enhanced disinfecting.
We had an amazing turnout at the first Swannanoa Community Blood Drive sponsored by FANS on March 31. Every single donor slot was filled, and 42 pints of blood were collected. Let’s see if we can equal or exceed that number on June 24. Enough time will have passed so that folks who gave in March will be eligible to give again. The need for blood is constant – your gift may literally save a life!
