Although many events and activities have been canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus, the 2020 Census is moving ahead at full speed. By now, all residents should have received at least one mailer with instructions on how to participate in the census online or by phone.
It takes no more than ten minutes to complete the census questionnaire, and your responses are confidential. It’s against the law for the Census Bureau to disclose or publish any census information that identifies you. No law enforcement agency (not the DHS, ICE, FBI or CIA) can access or use your personal information at any time.
It’s important that everyone is counted. The 2020 Census data will determine our representation in state and federal government, and will directly affect how much money we get for schools, hospitals, roads, public works, and other important programs. By responding now, you spare the government the cost of continuing to send you mailers, and you also spare yourself a knock on your door from a census taker.
