The Charlotte Observer recently ran a feature story about the importance of enjoying nature during the holidays, especially in the midst of all the commercialism that surrounds us. The story focused on giving ourselves the “gift” of visiting special places in nature that inspire and nurture our souls. Seven residents from around the state shared their favorite spots with readers. Emilia Cowns, Assistant Communications Director for the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences had this to say:
For me, there’s no better place to appreciate the fall than in the mountains of North Carolina. God’s beauty is displayed in vivid, bold and beautiful color all over the state; but Swannanoa, Black Mountain and Asheville are undoubtedly my favorite places in nature.
