As many of you know, Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS) usually sponsors a community cleanup on the Swannanoa River in September. The river is normally quite low in the fall, allowing volunteers to wade in the river to collect trash and debris. Unfortunately, plentiful rainfall this summer has raised the water levels, making it unsafe to attempt a water-based river cleanup. We’ll be back on the river as soon as water levels allow.
