The annual Swannanoa Sweep community cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. – noon. Hundreds of residents have taken part in the Sweep since the first event was held in 2007. If you’ve never been a Sweep volunteer, this is your year! Come by yourself, with your friends or family (the Sweep is kid-friendly), or with a group – it’s a great way to make new friends and give back to your community.
Volunteers will gather in the Ingles parking lot (near Bank of America) to form crews. Gloves, vests and bags will be provided. Wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable working clothes, and bring a water bottle. Crews will fan out to a variety of areas to pick up trash and debris along the roadways.
The Swannanoa Sweep is sponsored by Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS). If you’d like to suggest an area to be cleaned, or want to learn more about volunteering, please contact us or call Maureen Dillow at 713-8836. Church, school, and scout groups are encouraged to participate.
