Swannanoa Welcome Sign
Our new Swannanoa welcome sign was officially unveiled on Saturday, October 7, immediately following the Swannanoa Community Yard Sale. Area residents gathered to watch as the tarp was pulled away, revealing a beautiful two-sided cedar sign sitting atop a river rock base. Everyone present gave the new sign a big thumbs up, and if the online posts are any indication, the community agrees. Comments posted on the Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS) Facebook page included: “The sign is beautiful! What a great project,” and “Thanks to all involved! It’s a wonderful gift to the community.”
Speaking of thanks, FANS would like to give a big shout out to everyone who donated money to help pay for the sign. FANS launched a fundraising campaign this summer, and within a few weeks, the entire $4,000 needed to pay for the sign had been raised. There were close to 50 individual donors, and several local businesses (National Wiper Alliance, Ace Hardware and Redmon’s Automotive) that pitched in to help bring this project to fruition. This was a true community effort.
FANS would also like to thank Jimmy Lamb of Lamb Sign Company, who used his considerable talents to create a unique and beautiful sign for our community.
If you haven’t seen the new sign yet, it’s on US 70 in front of the Swannanoa Ingles. Be sure to drive by soon and check it out!
