WHAT: 7th ANNUAL GROOVIN‘ ON GROVEMONT SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
A benefit for two Swannanoa non-profits: The Friends of the Swannanoa Library and the Swannanoa Emergency Assistance Program (a program of the Swannanoa Community Council)
WHEN: Tuesdays, July 14, July 28, and August 11 – 6:00pm each evening
WHERE: Grovemont Square adjacent to the Swannanoa Library, 101 West Charleston Ave, Swannanoa, NC, 28778
DETAILS: The Friends of the Swannanoa Library and the Swannanoa Community Council present the 7th annual Groovin‘ on Grovemont summer concert series in Grovemont Square adjacent to the Swannanoa Library. Bring a blanket, lawn chair, frisbee, etc. and come enjoy these family-friendly evenings of great music! Series is free and open to the public. Pizza and baked goods available for sale; proceeds benefit the Friends of the Swannanoa Library and the Swannanoa Community Council.

7/14/09 – The Barrel House Mamas – Sweet & Sultry Mountain Music
The Barrel House Mamas conjure the sweet and sultry sounds of the southern Appalachian Mountains they call home in their robust vocals and original songs. Come enjoy the soaring, poetic harmonies sung from beautiful and distinct female voices for which the Mamas have gained regional notoriety. Come hear the roots-pure and undeniably moving musical experience with hints of Appalachian old time, classic folk, the blues, a touch of country, a bit of swing, that is entirely these Mamas own.
7/28/09 – The Groovemont Players
This collection of Swannanoa-based players represents a “who’s who” of regional talent, performing a mix of rock, soul, blues, and beyond!
8/11/09 – The Firecracker Jazz Band –
The Firecracker Jazz Band revitalizes the energy of the roots of Jazz. In paying homage to the pioneers of early 20th Century Jazz, including that of Dixieland and New Orleans, the Firecracker Jazz Band carries the torch that was once lit by such greats as Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong & Bix Beiderbeck.
