The NC Dept. of Cultural Resources has an exhibit about people who worked at the textile mills in the early 1900s. It has annotated photos taken by Lewis Hine and also some artifacts. Hine’s photographs were instrumental in the child labor movement. Several items concern the Beacon plant in Swannanoa. The exhibit is in the NCDCR building across from the VA on Riceville Rd., and ends Oct 3. More info here.
