Don’t miss the Mill Around the Village Festival!

Don’t miss the Mill Around the Village Festival!

Swannanoa’s very first community wide street festival!

On Saturday, September 8, from 2:00-6:00pm everyone in the Swannanoa Valley will come together in the historic downtown area of Swannanoa (where Park St. meets the railroad tracks) to celebrate Swannanoa’s rich history and exciting future. Come hear live music by the local bands Desperado, Victory 5, and Circle D Bluegrass. Bring a chair, enjoy the music, and kick up your heels for some old time dancing.

The festival will also feature food from local Swannanoa eateries including beans, cornbread, and ice cream from the Breakfast Shoppe, barbeque from Okey Dokey’s Smokehouse, delicious pizza from Athens Pizza, fine coffee and delectable desserts from Moments Café, soft serve ice cream and hot dogs from the Dog House Dairy Bar, tenderloin biscuits by Frank Blankenship, and ribeye sandwiches and cobbler from Fox Family Restaurant.  All food will be sold for $1.00 or less, a great way to tour Swannanoa’s eating establishments all in one afternoon.  Festival goers will also be able to browse the more than 30 arts & crafts, business, and information booths.  Kids will enjoy face painting, balloon animals, puppet shows, a free moon walk, and games!

The History Heritage Exchange will feature photos, maps, and activities highlighting Swannanoa’s rich history of business, culture, and community.  Come learn the history of Swannanoa and help us map out historic downtown Swannanoa.

Want to help?  Please help us spread the news about the festival by forwarding this email to your friends, family, and neighbors.  You can also volunteer for the festival and receive a free festival collector t-shirt!  These t-shirts feature the custom designed Mill Around the Village Festival logo created by local artist Ken Pittman.  Volunteer opportunities include: set-up, break-down, the Festival Clean Sweep crew, children's game area, and staffing the welcome, t-shirt, and information booths.  If you want to volunteer simply reply to this email (spcc2006@charter.net) with the subject line, "I want to volunteer for the festival".  Include your name and contact information in your response. Thanks in advance for your help!

The festival is presented by the Swannanoa Pride Community Coalition and will be held in the historic downtown area of Swannanoa, where Park Street meets the railroad tracks (alongside the First Baptist Church of Swannanoa).  Festivities start at 2:00pm.  See attached flyer for more information or call 337-7545  No pets please.
