After a long pandemic-induced hiatus, the much-anticipated Swannanoa Community Yard Sale is set to return in September. The yard sale, sponsored twice each year by Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS) always draws large crowds of sellers and shoppers to the Swannanoa Ingles parking lot. Due to pent-up demand, we expect the September sale will be the largest one ever. The tentative date is Saturday, September 25 – mark your calendar!
The Swannanoa Sweep Community Cleanup, also sponsored by FANS, will take place on Saturday, April 10, from 9 a.m. – noon. Last year’s Sweep was cancelled due to the pandemic, so there’s lots of extra trash to pick up along our roadways. Please come out and join your neighbors to help clean up our beautiful community. It’s a “feel good” way to spend your Saturday morning!
To make it easier to maintain social distance, volunteers will be sent out in small groups. Folks may also choose to volunteer with their family group or “pod.” Gloves, bags and vests will be provided; wear old clothes and sturdy shoes. Meet at 9 a.m. in the Ingles parking lot, just west of the former Bank of America building (2323 US Hwy. 70) to pick up supplies and form groups. Come for an hour, or two or three. Every litter bit helps!
