When: | Jul 9, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm |
Where: | Owens Park 875 Warren Wilson Road Swannanoa, NC |
After heavy rains and high water this past year, the Swannanoa River is in dire need of a cleanup. Join your neighbors on Saturday, July 9, to help rid the river of unsightly trash! The river cleanup is sponsored by Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS), in partnership with Asheville GreenWorks, and will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Volunteers will use canoes (provided by Asheville GreenWorks) to collect debris as they wade through the river and walk along its banks. If past Swannanoa River cleanups are any indication, participants will have loads of fun while collecting loads of trash.
Wear closed-toed shoes and a swimsuit, T shirt and shorts, or other clothing you don’t mind getting wet. Volunteers should meet at 10 a.m. at Owen Park, 875 Warren Wilson Road.
At the end of the cleanup, volunteers are invited to gather in the picnic pavilion at the far end of Owen Park for snacks and to share stories of your river adventures. Participants may bring a lunch; a cooler will be available for storage.

See you on the river!
