Friends of Connect Buncombe, a nonprofit county greenways group, is inviting the public to join in a series of casual roundtable discussions about how to develop a messaging, marketing and advocacy strategy for a connected system of trails and greenways throughout Buncombe County. The meetings will take place June 23 – 25 at a variety of locations around the county. The closest meeting for Swannanoa residents will be at the Black Mountain Library, 105 N. Dougherty Street, on Tuesday, June 23, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
The mission of Friends of Connect Buncombe is to encourage and support the implementation of the county’s Greenways and Trails Master Plan, and the construction of greenways throughout Buncombe County through public awareness, community education and fundraising activities. The group’s goal is to see a system of connected trails for public use to foster and promote tourism, economic development, health, recreation, and diverse and safe transportation options, and to connect with the community and the cultural heritage and beauty of Buncombe County.
