Groovin’ on Grovemont is Back for its Tenth Season

Free Outdoor Concert Series in Grovemont Square Begins July 3

Bandstand at Groovin' at the GrovemontMark your calendars now for one of Swannanoa’s not-to-be-missed annual events – the Groovin’ on Grovemont outdoor concert series that takes place each summer in Grovemont Square, near the Swannanoa Library.  Bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic, if you’d like; food, ice cream and home-made desserts will also be available for sale.  As an added bonus, a giant used book sale will take place at the Swannanoa library on each concert evening.  Great music, good eats, beautiful mountain views, and cheap books — what more could you ask for?!

This year’s concert series will kick off at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening, July 3, with the jubilant dixieland and jazz sounds of The Firecracker Jazz Band.  This band is one of the most popular to ever play at Groovin’.  They’ve performed at jazz venues throughout the country and are coming back to Groovin’ this year to help us celebrate Independence Day in foot-stompin’ style.  Bring the whole family for some terrific outdoor fun and entertainment.  Additional concerts will take place on Tuesdays, July 17 and 31.  Stay tuned for info on the musical lineup for these two concerts.

Groovin’ on Grovemont is sponsored by the Friends of the Swannanoa Library and the Swannanoa Community Council (SCC).  SCC operates the Swannanoa Emergency Assistance Program (SEAP) that assists Swannanoa residents with emergency utility and medical needs.  Proceeds from Groovin’ on Grovemont help to support the library and SEAP.

Groovin’ on Grovemont is made possible by volunteer efforts and donations from sponsors.  For information on sponsorship opportunities, please call George Scott at 779-7455.
