Warren Wilson College now has barn quilts! Thanks to the vision of recent Warren Wilson College graduate, Batya Globerman ’21, passersby can now enjoy colorful barn quilts mounted on Warren Wilson College’s two iconic barns. The quilts were installed in collaboration with the College’s Fine Woodworking Crew and with the help of many other student work crews across campus.
“This project is very meaningful to me,” Batya said. “In my time at school I noticed so many beautiful barn quilts dotting the landscape of this region. This feels as though it is my parting gift to the college, a place and community that has given me so much.
On the back of each quilt is a blessing written by Irish poet and mystic John O’Donohue. The one on the back of the large quilt is titled Blessing for a New Home. To me, this is a blessing for all who come to this magical place and find home and sanctuary in this landscape.”
Thank you Batya, and the Warren Wilson work crews, for this gift that the whole community can now enjoy!
