Swannanoa’s roadsides are a whole lot cleaner thanks to the 40+ volunteers who turned out for this year’s Swannanoa Sweep Community Cleanup. The Sweep is sponsored by Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS), and his held annually in the spring. Thank you to all those who came out to help!
The County recently made improvements to the beautiful walking paths at Swannanoa’s Owen Park, including elevating and rip-rapping a particularly flood-prone section. The level path, which forms a figure 8 around the park’s two ponds, is almost exactly one mile long. Owen Park is located at 875 Warren Wilson Road.
Judging by the number of photos posted recently on Nextdoor and other social media sites, our bear population in Swannanoa is very healthy and active! Now is a good time to improve your “bear IQ.” You can visit bearwise.org for lots of great information about how to live safely with these beautiful creatures.
