Yard Sale

Twice each year FANS organizes a community yard sale in which thousands of people come to Swannanoa to shop among hundreds of vendors. All manner of items are bought and sold in the spring and fall sales. A fun event that is an economic driver for the community. This is also FANS largest fundraiser each year.

Community Partnerships

Working closely with the Swannanoa Community Council and the Friends of the Library as well as other local organizations FANS strives to use its resources to help in every corner of the valley so that its residents and visitors can enjoy Swannanoa in the fullest.

Becoming a newsletter sponsor is a great way for businesses to reach their target markets, while demonstrating their support for the community.

Newsletter

Every other month FANS publishes a Newsletter both in digital and print form that includes relevant updates about what is happening in the community. This free Newsletter reaches more than 2000 email subscribers, plus hundreds more via social media. In addition, 500 print copies of the newsletter are distributed through local businesses.

Giving Back

As a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization it is important to us that we give back. We have recently added a Community Service award that funds $500 to a graduating senior at Owen High School to go towards furthering their education. By donating food from the garden, providing enjoyable experiences, and offering ways to volunteer in the community FANS is an integral part of the Swannanoa Valley.

Community Garden

The garden located near Owen High School is a garden that gives. Growing hundreds of pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables that are donated to local food pantries. This community space provides wonderful volunteer opportunities and a place for children to learn about where food comes from.

Clean Up

The pride we feel in our community shows up each time we organize clean ups. Dozens of people come together to pick up litter across the valley. By adopting a 2.5 mile stretch of Old 70 FANS is a leader in keeping our community clean. We are driving a push for more organizations to adopt sections of streets in Swannanoa.
